Environmentally Friendly Horse: Caring for Your Land

SWCD in partnership with VA Cooperative Extension is presenting this
timely, information packed "Green Horse" seminar on MAY 15, 2008 from 9:00 am to
3:00 pm at the King George Community Center on Rt. 3 in King
George, Virginia. You'll learn about hay quality and alternatives,
horse health and research, pasture and barnyard management,
composting, and more! Registration is required, and there is a
small fee to cover food and materials. You'll also be
eligible for door prizes from our sponsors. A hearty lunch will be

Native Garden Demo

Date: Saturday, May 17th, 2008 Location: 726 William Street - Fredericksburg (between Kenmore & Barton) Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anne and Carl Little will host a FREE Native Plant Demo Garden demonstration for native plant enthusiasts in Fredericksburg. Their garden will exhibit what can be achieved when landscaping with native plants. In addition, they will show ways to attract native birds to your yard; rain garden and water conservation info; and examples of composting. Native plant vendors will be offering seedlings for sale and gardening experts will be on hand to answer your questions. Download Poster School and Summer Education Programs Your Conservation District is always conducting education programs for schools, clubs, field trips, seminars, etc. We can help with your scout's merit badge, lead a hike or two, talk about a variety of environmental issues, train and assist teachers and homeschool instructors and more!
